Fresh Off The Page - 'Kamasutra Chronicles'

“Sex, good sex, bad sex, more sex, no sex. And what’s next?”

Fresh Off the Page is excited to present the first reading of 2019, Shriya Bhagwat Chitale's original work 'Kamasutra Chronicles'!

“Sex, good sex, bad sex, more sex, no sex. And what’s next?”

The Kamasutra Chronicles is a contemporary response to an ancient Indian text written in the third century (AD). Expect some magic as sage Vatsayana or V, the author of the original Kamasutra and the Muse Vasant Sena come alive and wedge themselves into the mundane domesticity of Ishita and Rishabh’s life.

Exploring themes of loneliness, traditional ideas around traditional literature, romance and female pleasure through satire, the play boldly challenges stereotypes.

It is a feminist work that uses an everyday couple’s story to illuminate female sexual empowerment and what it means to belong to oneself first and foremost.
