TEST FEST

TEST FEST is a new festival from Basement Theatre. Over three nights, audiences will see a fast-paced lineup of new, unfinished, and unashamedly experimental performance - work that's still finding its shape, presented without the pressure of being complete or polished.

TEST FEST grew out of a recurring conversation among artists and industry: the need for a space that holds artistic risk-taking, rather than punishing it. Many artists have a project that's stalled in development, or a brand-new idea they want to test before committing further. TEST FEST is a low-stakes, high-energy way to try out new material in front of peers, the public, and industry taste makers.

For audiences, TEST FEST offers something rare: a first look at bold new work at its earliest, most unguarded stage, alongside the artists who made it and the taste makers watching closely for what's next.

TEST FEST fosters genuine connection between Basement's emerging artists and Auckland's wider arts industry, outside the pressure of an arts market – a place to experience work that is deliberately raw and unfinished, before it hits the mainstage – and an opportunity to mix and mingle with the artists in the depth of creation.
