Is Basement Mates a taxable donation?

Unfortunately not. IRD has redefined the parameters of a donation, and all subscriptions or memberships that offer benefits are no longer tax-deductible. How will my membership be charged?

Your Basement Mate membership, you agree to be charged automatically on a recurring basis. Monthly members will be charged on their sign-up monthiversary and Annual members will be charged on their sign-up anniversary.Basement Mates can cancel their membership at any time by emailing mates@basementtheatre.co.nz. Basement Mates will have access to benefits until the end of their current billing cycle.

How do Mates redeem ticket and bar discounts?

TicketsBasement Mates are given a unique membership code to redeem their $17 tickets. They can use this code when purchasing their tickets via iTICKET to receive the Mates discount - there will be a blue box at the checkout stage. They can also quote their number or show their membership card at the Basement box office when purchasing tickets at the door.We will manually set up the membership number in iTICKET, so it may take a few days to activate. Mates who want to purchase a discounted ticket before their membership number is active can head to the Basement Theatre box office and purchase their ticket in person.Sometimes shows are excluded from the Basement Mates discount, such as selected shows during The NZ International Comedy Festival, very occasionally shows which are put on by external hirers of our space, or Choose What You Pay ticketed shows. The event page on the Basement website will clearly state if the show is excluded from the Basement Mates discount.Each Basement Mate can only access one discounted ticket to each Basement Mates eligible show - once you've purchased your ticket using your membership number, it will no longer be valid for that particular show going forward. There are only 10 discounted Basement Mates tickets available to each performance of a Basement Mates eligible show.BarBasement Mates 15% bar discount only applies to one house wine, beer or spirit per transaction - i.e. you can't shout a round of drinks at the discounted rate. Simply show your stoop keyring or membership card at the bar to receive the discount.

When will I get my merch?

Depending on the shipping option you chose, your sign-up pack will either arrive on your doorstep or will be at the Basement Theatre bar ready for you to pick up. Your sign-up pack with have the merch inside!As an Annual Great Mate, Monthly Best Mate or Annual Best Mate, you will receive the current annual gift upon sign-up in your sign-up pack. On your Basement Mates anniversary, you will receive the next annual gift - an original piece of merch each year!As a Monthly Great Mate, you'll receive your first annual gift on the anniversary of your sign-up. On your next Basement Mates anniversary, you will receive the next annual gift.
