Firing the Canon is a series that revisits the best of Aotearoa's theatre canon to re-introduce artists and audiences to landmark works that forged pathways and laid foundations for the form today. The second iteration of this series will feature three works by queer playwrights, directed by artists from Basement Theatre's past, present and future, performed by all-star casts. The plays are:

Joyful and Triumphant by Robert Lord
Setting the Table by Renee
The Black by Josephine Stewart-Tewhiu

Smoke Labours Productions is an award-winning theatre company led by Sam Brooks. Its notable productions include Burn Her, Riding in Cars with (Mostly Straight) Boys and most recently, A Rich Man.
