Matariki Tote Bag

Each year, we acknowledge Matariki at Basement Theatre with an original commemorative artwork designed by a Māori visual artist. The artwork is displayed outside Basement, taking over our seasonal banner spot and this year we've turned it into a black AS Colour tote bag!

This year’s piece is designed by MsMeemo (Kai Tahu, Kahungunu, Waikato-Tainui, Tuhoe), with all profits going to the artist.

"In creating this piece the concept 'Reretau' or harmony set the foundation. When I think about harmony within Matariki it is shown through each of the whetū and the roles they each play. Matariki being the mother star and having one of the most important roles in overseeing harmony and guiding her children across the sky." - MsMeemo
