The Slab

It’s Basement’s very own beer garden - now with your fave Basey artists performing live.

Named with love, The Slab is the space between our front steps and car park. You may have enjoyed a drink here in the sunshine before heading inside to see a show. We have decked it out with new furniture, and now there is enough seating and space for 44 people to enjoy live performance from the comfort of the outdoors (just bring something warm to wear!).

The Slab differs from our season shows as ALL of the ticket monies will be going to the artists performing. Woop woop! How you can support Basement on the night is by enjoying drinkies from the bar.

Friday 6 May, 7pm
DOING THE MOST - COMEDY SHOW

Saturday 7 May, 7PM
Janaye Henry: Testing The Waters

How much are tickets?

Each event will have a different ticket price and will be determined by the artist. If you would like to support the artist a bit more when booking your ticket - select the ‘Support the Artist’ price and it will be $10 more than the general price.

How many tickets will be available?

There will be 44 tickets available for each event - so make sure you get in quick to book ya tickets! Space is very limited and won’t be doing door sales so we can contain how many people we have in the space per night.

It’s raining!

The Slab is equipped to handle all the elements. Shows will be going ahead rain or shine.

What happens if I have to isolate or am feeling unwell?

Please stay home and pass your ticket onto a mate.

Basement Theatre doesn’t offer refunds and all purchases are final. This is our policy as each show’s ticket sales go directly to the artist. With such limited seats available, the artists would lose out if you ask for a refund so close to showtime and would be unable to resell the ticket. For The Slab, we won’t be able to offer transfers to other Slab shows if you can’t make it to the show you booked for - so please find a mate who is well and keen to come.

Covid Protocols

A vaccine pass will be required for everyone coming to The Slab. Read more about our Covid health & safety.

An artist has to isolate themselves, what happens to my tickets?

If a show is cancelled due to artists isolating or getting Covid, you'll get the option to receive a refund or donate some or all of your ticket price to the artists.

Are The Slab shows GA?

All shows on The Slab are GA, however to make sure we’re all social distancing, our wonderful Front of House team will seat you based on your group size. So if you’d like to sit with your friends, it’s best to book as a group!

What’s the seating like?

Seating will range from cabaret tables, bar stools to cushions on our steps, so to make sure you nab the best seat in the house, arrive early and have a drink before the show.

If you have any concerns about seating accessibility email us at info@basementtheatre.co.nz and we can sort you out.
