Jingle Bellethon Telethon

Show Info

Tāmaki’s silliest of the silly season, the legendary Basement Christmas Show returns for its fourteenth year - it’s the JINGLE BELLETHON TELETHON!

Ho ho ho, thank you very much for your kind koha! The klassic kiwi telethon is back and this time it’s a whole lot more unhinged. A deeply devoted but ultimately chaotic crew are scraping together an unforgettable telethon. But the countdown to Christmas is on and there’s a big donation target over their heads. Will they raise the money and spread the Christmas cheer? Or will the pressure of an unpredictable live audience, awkward celebrity interviews, rollicking sketches and offbeat musical numbers create a cursed telethon that should have stayed in 2009?!

Created by comedian, clown baby, theatre kid and writer Janaye Henry (Ngāti Kahu ki Whangaroa) and theatre plus DJ powerhouse Bea Gladding (Ngāti Porou, Ngāpuhi) with co-writer Frickin Dangerous Bro Jamaine Ross (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Kahungunu), JINGLE BELLETHON TELETHON features a red-hot cast of crackups and a nightly celebrity guest.

“I’m already marking the annual Basement Christmas Show on the calendar for next year, because I can’t think of a better way to kick off the silly season than by sharing genuine belly laughs with a room full of strangers.” - The Spinoff on the 2022 Basement Theatre Christmas Show

Call and pledge now! Whoops gotta wait until the phone lines are open…  Book your tickets now for a night of all-out mayhem and hilarity!

Over the last few weeks our Christmas Show artists have been super busy in the studio putting together an amazing show for you folks. But Covid is not done with us, and it’s thrown a bit of a spanner in the works. Due to some of our amazing cast becoming unwell and not being able to rehearse, we have had to make the tough decision to cancel the first week of the Christmas Show season.

This was such a tough decision to make for many reasons, but in the end we had to go back to our values of putting wellbeing first, and doing our utmost to protect everyones’ hauora. Right now we need our artists to rest, recover and break the chain of transmission so that they can come back with a bang.

This affects the following performances:

Wednesday 29 November 7:30pm (Preview)

Thursday 30 November 7:30pm (Opening Night)

Friday 1 December 6:30pm & 9pm

Saturday 2 December 6:30pm & 9pm

The season will commence on Tuesday 5 December.

If you had booked tickets for one of these shows, iTicket will be in touch to either rebook or refund your tickets. We know that our decision impacts on your Christmas celebration plans, and that it’s not easy to reschedule at such a busy time! However if it is possible to move your plans around so you can see the show at a later date, we encourage you to do so. Our artists have worked so hard and your support right now truly means the world to them.
