Not Woman Enough

Show Info

Bubbly Vivian is rearing to explore sex but is finding the act immensely painful. 26-year-old Beatrice, whose breasts make up two-thirds of the dynamic trio of her identity, is shaken by the invasion of breast cancer. And Ivy, an overachiever, struggles to reach a goal for the first time in her life - having a baby.

Like being privy to an adult slumber party after the 5th round of never-have-I-ever, Not Woman Enough is a shocking, gut-wrenching and snort-laughingly bare-all conversation into the wonder of womanhood through the lens of three different Asian women.

Formed in 2013, Proudly Asian Theatre delivers contemporary performance works driven by Asian artists in Aotearoa. PAT has since staged 10 successful productions, while creating multiple programmes that upskill our local Asian arts community. Their staged works are heart-fuelled and stereotype-shattering, with collaboration, innovation and whānau at the fore of their creation. PAT empowers Asian talent to produce original and contemporary theatre works, which represents and breaks down barriers of acceptance and visibility in Aotearoa.

Formed in 2020, Hand Pulled Collective brings stories and voices from communities who have been pushed to the periphery to centrestage. HPC creates with accessibility in mind and supports new works that push the boundaries of theatre-making and storytelling in exciting ways. This includes works that thoughtfully respond to vital conversations of the now; are accessible and adaptable; and meaningfully contribute to Aotearoa’s theatre landscape.
