REHAB
Show Info
Based on lived experience, this improvised dark comedy/drama explores early recovery for an eclectic mix of addicts and alcoholics within a residential rehab. Laugh, cry and be affected - as we pull you into our chaotic world of curiosity, authenticity & hope; that is REHAB.
The show allows the audience to have a ‘fly on the wall’ experience within the residential rehab as well as illuminating them to the whole-hearted, multi-faceted, unique character who exists in spite of their addiction. REHAB includes characters such as a primary school teacher, film director, basketball coach, former VIP hotel host, MMA fighter, mechanic, builder, waitress, law student and an equity partner at a leading Aotearoa law firm – among others. The show also allows insight into other intersections of marginalisation the character may experience such as socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, sexuality, gender and other mental health disabilities.
Our main intention for REHAB has always been to help de-stigmatise addiction & normalise recovery. Through REHAB we want to illustrate that addiction doesn’t discriminate - literally any of us could experience this & recovery is absolutely possible, for everybody.
