The Sun and The Wind & The Handlers | Kōanga Festival 2022 | Te Pou Theatre

The Sun and the Wind, a new work by acclaimed playwright Tainui Tukiwaho is a surreal home drama about the dangers of holding on to things that aren’t yours to hold. Prepare yourself for a birthday part you’ll never forget.

The Handlers by Alvie McKree is a story of Auckland in the 1970s: when a group of Māori women working at Crown Lynn Potteries all take time off to attend a tangihanga, the production line grinds to a halt. Now their jobs are on the line.

Pākehā Skin, Māori Blood is a new work co-written by Alex Medland and Fabian MacGregor. In this work, Tama and Grace are two Pākehā presenting tangata whenua attempting to feel accepted while navigating a white camouflage they cannot remove. Pākehā Skin, Māori Blood is a work based on the lived experience of inhabiting a space between Māori and Pākehā and is for anyone who has felt like they aren’t Māori enough.

Still Friends..? By Waitahi McGee follows the story of two youths about to graduate high school. They've been best friends since day dot and now, they're realising their wants are moving them in separate directions... Do they communicate how they truely feel? or continue and hope for the best?
